Lighting Installation
A project for IESNYC Lighting competition 2023.
The prompt “Circle of Light”
This work was a conceptual piece meant to capture the diversity of human perspectives. In our shared world, individual perspectives vary like light through a prism, influenced by different speeds and directions. Yet, there are moments when we unite, experiencing the same event simultaneously. In those instances, our perspectives converge into a shared circle of pure light. Briefly uniting us in concentric circles.

This project focused primarily on the viewers experience. When viewing from the side, one could observe all these different ellipses presented at various perspectives. No two individuals could experience the same visual outcome when viewing it from different spots around the installation. However, there was a unique perspective to be had when one was seated underneath the artwork; in that moment, when the perspectives aligned perfectly, the viewer would be exposed to the sight of all white light and three perfectly formed circles. The goal was to mirror the way in which individuals' viewpoints and experiences align at certain pivotal moments in life.
